Equipment for self drives
- Snow chains are imperative. It is now French law that cars have either snow tyres or carry snowchains. These can be purchased in the UK or en route. If you don’t buy them before arrival and need to buy them in resort, there is only one garage and they cost a fortune! In heavy snow, the police often refuse access to cars with no chains.
- An emergency triangle, high visibility vest, spare light bulbs and a portable breathylser are expected for travel in France.
IMPORTANT : SatNav directions
Over the years, some SatNavs have directed drivers to travel via the Col de l'Iseran or Col du Petit St Bernard.
Please CHECK before you travel as these passes are usually closed from early November - June.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.
